Since its inception in 1995, the PEARL Awards has recognized and rewarded over seventy-five quoted companies for outstanding operational and stock performance with over fifteen emerging as the Overall highest award winners (The PEARL of the stock market) at different times.

Categories of The Awards

The PEARL Awards is in three main categories:

  • Sectoral Leadership
  • Market Excellence
  • Overall Highest Awards (The PEARL)

The criteria for selecting winning companies are based on verifiable indices, facts, and figures as reported in company’s Annual Reports & Accounts for the preceding year of Award and stock trading performance on the Nigerian Stock Exchange for the previous year. Details of methodology and how Award winners emerge are transparent and published yearly in the Nigerian Stock Market Annual (NSMA), an annual publication of the PEARL Awards, publicly presented at each year’s Awards Nite.

Honorary Awards Category

In commemoration of its 5th year anniversary in year 2000, the Awards Board of Governors resolved to introduce the Honorary Awards Category to reward individuals and institutions that have contributed to the upliftment of the Nigerian capital Market. The main Award in this category is the PEARL Awards “Special Recognition Award for Capital Market Development. Past recipients of this revered Award over the years include Dr. Christopher Kolade; Dr. Gamaliel Onosode; Late Akintunde Asalu; Dr. Suleyman Ndanusa; Otunba Subomi Balogun; Dr. Faruk Umar among others.

Other Awards

The other Awards under the Honorary Category include PEARL CEO of the Year Award; Capital Market Correspondent Award of the Year; and Media Awards for Capital Market Reporting.
